What is (the) story behind this blog? Well, pull up a chair and find out...
Traditionally, there are five senses that all humans have: sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. These can be seen represented in Gérard de Lairesse's Allegory of the Five Senses (1668), in which each of the figures in the main group allude to a sense: sight is the reclining boy with a convex mirror, hearing is the cupid-like boy with a triangle, smell is represented by the girl with flowers, taste is represented by the woman with the fruit and touch is represented by the woman holding the bird.

Good to know, although the burning question is why am I writing about them? See, it is through these senses that we discover the world around us and that is what this blog is all about. The discovery of just enough in each area will will keep us balanced. Or me balanced, as this blog is really about me and what I discover about the world around me.
As a stay-at-home-mom, I can find myself a bit limited if I am not careful. It is really easy to go through an entire day and discover nothing that is enough to satisfy my five senses. I watch Elmo, hear tiny vocabularies, eat kid food, smell diaper changes and touch lots and lots of toys as I clean up the playroom. While you can work really hard at finding these things stimulating, after a while... they just aren't. I need something that really is enough for an adult.
That is where this blog comes in. Here is where I will write about the things that I discover to be enough to keep me going day to day. They will probably NOT be astounding or amazing or unbelievable because this is about discovering enough... not discovering everything. I am content with my life. I love my life, but this is about getting that bit of pizazz that makes you feel like you again.
I think you probably all know what I mean, but if not take a look through this blog. As it develops I hope it will not only be a great scrapbook for me, but a help to lots of you as well. So enjoy and start wondering what is enough in your world that you might need to discover.
Welcome to your senses, now go discover enough...
